Bad luck seems to be sardonically smirking at this city-based family. It was first struck by Coronavirus; and while the entire family was in quarantine at the hospital, their house was burgled.
Burglars broke into their Swami Dayanand Nagar home and stole valuables worth over Rs 12 lakh.
No, picture abhi baaki hai! The family is now running from pillar to post to get cops onto their feet. It has even sought Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s intervention to speed up the probe. The family has alleged that police are afraid to visit their house as some members of their family had tested positive for Covid-19.
According to the head of the family, they came to know about the theft on April 22 while in quarantine. They returned home on April 26 and lodged their complaint on April 27. The Rajendra Nagar police filed an FIR on April 28. The family claims that since Covid-19 cases were reported in the house, police were hesitant to conduct a thorough probe. “No forensic team has visited the site,” he alleged.
However, cops refute the allegations of inaction and slow probe. Rajendra Nagar police station in-charge Sunil Sharma said had cops been afraid of coronavirus, they wouldn’t have visited the house to record statements. Sharma added that such cases do take some time, and that police have zeroed in on some suspects and will take appropriate action.
